answers to your questions...

1. How do I check my child in to their class on Sunday?
In Crosstown, we have a ID card check-in system. This system allows us to ensure the safety of your children while they are in the Crosstown Arena by making sure that they are only permitted to be with authorized individuals. If you already have a Crosstown ID card, you may take your child to his or her class; show the ID card to the teacher and the teacher will check your child into class. When you come to pick up your child, the procedure is the same. Simply show the teacher your ID card, and the teacher will release the child to your care. If you are a guest, or if you do not yet have a Crosstown ID card, please visit our children's welcome table. Our directors will be happy to help you check your child into his or her correct class from that location. They will also be able to assist you in obtaining a Crosstown ID card.

2. Can I stay with my child in their class?
While any parent is welcome to join their child in class, we find that children generally adjust well and participate better after parents leave the classroom. Our teachers are trained to engage children in classroom activities quickly.

3. What if there is a problem involving my child during the service?
In the event that we need to contact you, we will do so by flashing your identification number on the screen in the auditorium. If your code should appear, please exit the auditorium quietly and go to your child's classroom where a director will meet you to explain the situation. If you are not in the auditorium or were not given an identification number, a director will attempt to find you in the case of an emergency. You may be contacted during the service if your child is injured, unable to be comforted for an extended length of time, soils himself badly or becomes ill. If possible, discipline problems will be handled in the classroom or by a director.

4. Do you screen your staff?
Every children's staff person has submitted a ministry application form and had a background check run. The Director of Children has also met with each applicant and checked their personal references.

5. What will my child do in their classroom on Sunday?
In every classroom, our teachers are focused on presenting Biblical truths in ways that children can understand. We are using "Hands-On" Bible curriculum in the preschool classes; our elementary program utilizes two different curriculums. Currently at our 9 a.m. service we use the "252" curriculum and at our 10:30 a.m. service we utilize a curriculum we produce based on walking kids through the Bible. Both curriculums help children to experience a Bible truth, whether through interactive storytelling, skits, sensory stimulation or crafts. We also have a music time every Sunday where our children have the opportunity to worship the Lord through song. And, of course, through games and crowd-breakers our children get to play and be active in our learning environments.

6. How can I help?
Please help us by communicating with us about your child. Make sure they are healthy and have everything they may need every Sunday (diaper bag, jacket, medicine, etc.) Let us know about things like potty-training, allergies, problems, etc.

7. How can I get involved?
There are lots of ways to be involved as a parent in the children's arena. We need teachers, teachers' helpers, worship leaders, greeters, office volunteers, and event volunteers. Impacting young lives is so exciting and we would love to have you join our team! Please contact the VCC office or julie@vailchristian.com.
