Eric and Beth Yodis - yodis.org
Eric and Beth Yodis are church-planters in Ukraine. Currently they are building a church called “The Church on the Shelter.” It is a church building they are constructing on top of an abandoned bomb shelter. We have sent a team of high school students to Ukraine to assist in the construction and at the end of this month a team of men from Vail Christian Church will journey there to help complete this project.
This year Eric has partnered with the Baptist Union in the Donetsk Oblast (Province) to offer their program of church-planter training as part of their Missiology program of study. They brought four students to this partnership and the program has 15 currently studying, for a total of 19 students.
From June 26-July 10, Vail Christian’s team of builders, Led by Connection Pastor Tim Sheaffer, will be traveling to Ukraine to aid in the construction of their church building. Here are a number of prayer requests for the Yodis’ and our team:
- Pray for the students of the church-planter training program as they study and learn to reach people in the surrounding area for Jesus Christ.
- Pray for Eric and Beth to have strength and wisdom as they work diligently to change the spiritual climate of Ukraine.
- Pray for Tim and our team as they leave for Ukraine. Pray that they will be of great help to Eric in the construction of the church building and that they will be greatly impacted by the work happening in there.
- Pray for their health and safety as they travel. Pray against anything that may distract our team from the work they are going to accomplish.
Stuart & Robyn Hackett
Stuart and Robyn Hackett are missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Currently they are studying French in Paris, France and soon they will be moving to Cameroon to create a written language for indigenous people there and eventually translate the Bible into that language. Here is their latest update:
We have moved up into a higher level class that is moving a little bit faster. This has meant some extra work, but it also means we are more likely to reach our goal of learning French well enough to leave for Cameroon at the end of December. We really feel like we have grown a great deal in our awareness of being crafted by God for His purposes, being wholly dependent on Him in so many areas where before we probably felt, deep down, like we were completely in control. This has deepened our joy and peace and over-whelmed us with humility. Please pray that God keeps our hearts at rest in Him, even as we work hard, so that we can be driven by the Spirit and not our ambitions to spend our time on what pleases Him. Please also pray that we both find good language helpers to help us practice speaking French this summer while our regular classes are out of session.
Did I say we were healthy? Healthier is probably more accurate. Stuart's toe has struck again! Yes, that toe starting acting up, but thankfully there is a part time podiatrist who lives in our building who was able and willing to give Stuart a little in house "surgery" (with no anesthetic I might add). Please pray that Stuart's toe heals up again and is prevented from becoming re-infected. And little Sammy is teething again, so he is a little more on-edge. This raises our anxiety a bit in concern for our neighbors, so please pray that God gives us all patience and grace for each other.
