Since the inception of Vail Christian Church, our mission has been to make room in life to connect people with God and others. Foster Community, Extend Our Resources, and Take New Ground.
Vail Christian Church values environments that foster discipleship and spiritual growth, such as community groups, classes, service teams and key events that reach into the lives of our neighbors and friends. We believe the best way to lead others to faith in Jesus Christ is through authentically telling and living out our story in community. In these last two years we have seen many lives reached, transformed, cared for and celebrated through these communities. Life in Christ happens best when we are in real community with each other. Families learn and grow to know the purposes of God when they are living in authentic community. This is the core of the Revolution! This is where the power of the gospel is fleshed out in real life. This is the real authentic church of Jesus Christ! Much of this part of the revolution is hard to measure because it takes grassroots level commitment and sacrifice to bear fruit in the harvest. But in these past two years, many adults and children have committed their lives to follow Christ marked by baptism at Vail Christian Church. Many people have grown deeper in their journey to established faith in Jesus Christ. Revolution 1.1 will continue to aggressively foster community, leading the way for effective physical growth.
We believe that we exist both for the Christ follower and the person far from God. Therefore, we are determined to provide valuable engaging resources and opportunities geared to serve the Vail community and surrounding areas. This also includes obtaining land, a campus and additional staff. $100,000 has been raised and saved this far in the Revolution Campaign for land and a new campus. We have also replaced and upgraded significant equipment we utilize every week. In addition, Empire High school has allowed us to permanently install technical equipment and storage containers used weekly. These things were all purchased through the Revolution Campaign. This year as we surge forward we would like to additionally raise another $100,000 moving us forward to achieve our goal of some day building a campus that gives us a permanent home in Vail.
The mission of the church is to glorify the Lord our God. (1 Corinthians 10:31) Key partnerships with other churches accelerates our potential to do this. Our commitment to partnerships with those seeking to launch churches in our area and abroad helps us fulfill our mission to successfully launch new churches. Two years ago the Revolution Campaign gave us the ability to start the Southern Arizona Church Planting Network. $81,000 has been saved through this partnership to plant churches in our area. In addition we have also assisted in launching the Pantano Christian Church multisite campus in Sierra Vista and invested significantly to build the Church On The Shelter in Ukraine. The Revolution Campaign also helped us get started in our commitments to two missionary families with monthly support that has seen an increase every year. In this next year it is our dream to be a part of launching new churches locally and abroad. Through the Revolution 1.1 campaign we can see this happen.
There are many principles from the Bible that should influence our giving in this revolution of reaching people far from God. I think II Corinthians 8:1-5 applies to these times and opportunities that are before us as a church. In this passage, Paul describes a church that has very little - in fact, he says its members are living in extreme poverty - and yet they give beyond their ability in order to spread the gospel of Christ. As I have read this encounter and tried to get to the core of what would drive people to give beyond their means despite their severe circumstances, several things rise to the surface. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, |
